Top 5 Christmas Films!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way! I do love Christmas, everyone is in a good mood and I love how the season brings everyone together. Sat around a fire watching a Christmas film is one of my favourite ways to spend the holidays with my family. I know that everyone has a favourite film for the holidays, and in this post I have listed my Top 5 favourites; real classics for everyone to enjoy!
Richard Curtis is just the master of the Romantic Comedy! Written and Directed by Curtis, this rom-com follows several stories of individuals around the holiday season and each story interlinks with other plots and characters. With a star cast and festive setting, this film will make you laugh, cry and warm your heart with festive cheer and love! This film never fails to put me in a good mood! (Some scenes of a mature nature are included, so only suitable for older members of the family).
Favourite Part: When Joanna sings 'All I want for Christmas is You'
2. Elf (2003)
Will Ferrell shines as 'Buddy' the Elf in this family classic! Found at an orphanage by Santa Claus one Christmas Eve Buddy is taken to the North Pole and raised as an Elf. Getting older he realises how different he is, and heads to New York in search of his birth father. Follow him on this hilarious journey of finding your family as well as your Christmas spirit! With added animated characters and Christmas songs, it's hard not to love this film!
Best line? SANTA! OH MY GOD! I KNOW HIM! I KNOW HIM!
3. Nativity (2009)
This film brings everyone back to those childhood days of being in the schools Nativity (I played Mary). Martin Freeman plays a bored Primary teacher who hates Christmas after losing the love of his life at this festive time. Through the help of Mr Poppy (Marc Wootton) the school plan to put on the best Nativity yet, and mend their teachers broken heart. A truly comedic film, perfect for all the family!
Favourite Costume: Groovy sparkly suit for Angel Gabriel
'The Polar Express' is a film filled with magic and friendship! With an amazing voice cast and score, it's hard not to get caught up in the films festive setting! Climbing aboard 'The Polar Express' one Christmas Eve a young boy travels with other children to an unknown destination. Learning about courage, friendship and truly believing in Christmas, this film never fails to put a smile on your face. Also Tom Hanks is the voice of half the characters so that's a bonus!
Best bit? Tom Hanks
5. The Snowman (1982)
'WE'RE WALKING IN THE AIR!' You can't resist singing along to this beautifully animated Christmas classic! As a non-dialogue film, it's left down to the visuals and the score to portray the emotion of this film, and you really aren't disappointed! Nominated for an Academy Award for 'Best Animated Short' this film takes you on a journey as a young boy flies with his magical Snowman to meet Father Christmas! Truly wonderful, a must see!
Favourite Scene: Trying on different noses in the kitchen!
